The Spring Training injuries are started to pile up as All-Star shortstop Corey Seager is dealing with something. Here’s what we know so far.

The Los Angeles Dodgers may be without their shortstop Corey Seager for the start of the season. Andy McCullough of the LA Times tweeted that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Seager will not play in a game this week. How does this affect the Dodgers and fantasy drafts?

McCullough posted a longer article, detailing more of the conversation with Roberts.

"Seager tweaked his upper back on a throw on March 3 and has not appeared in a Cactus League game since. ‘Corey is still just getting better, but not doing any baseball-specific stuff,’ Roberts said."

This does not bode well for Seager and his chances of being ready for Game 1. There is still time for him to return and get ready for MLB game action, the likelihood is small. Even if he is 100 percent by Opening Day, oblique and back injuries have a tendency to flare up again and make things worse for the player later in the season.

The Dodgers don’t seem to be worried about the prospect of not having Seager in the lineup for April. McCullough said, “The team has little interest in rushing him back to the diamond and risking the aggravation of his condition.” Translation? Don’t expect much news from the Dodgers camp until the final week of March.

More from Fantasy Baseball

This isn’t the first injury the young star has suffered in his career. He missed most of Spring Training last year with an ankle injury.

Seager struggled in his first month, hitting .250 with two home runs, 12 RBI and 15 strikeouts.

The Dodgers brought in second baseman Logan Forsythe after trading Howie Kendrick. Having a successful middle infield is a pitcher’s dream. The loss of Seager, for at least a week, will slow the chemistry between the two players.

Seager’s injury also isn’t the first of the spring. David Wright and David Price are dealing with injuries, but the latter seems to be close to returning to the mount.

Recently, Jason Kipnis injured his shoulder and Ian Desmond fractured his hand. More and more injuries will be happening, whether it’s in Spring Training or the World Baseball Classic. Be aware and adjust your rankings accordingly.

If you read my shortstop rankings (if not, here you go), you will see that Seager is my No. 3 shortstop. With the injury and possibility of missing some of April, I have to move him down. Looking at the list, he falls to No. 5 or 6. It’s not much, but his ADP moves from the second round to the fifth.

If Seager returns to play in the spring, watch how he swings the bat. If he winces or doesn’t have the same bat speed, then things change greatly.
