It is only a few weeks from fantasy baseball playoffs. Here are some hot hands on the waiver wire that can help you get there or maintain your position.

Where does your fantasy baseball team stand as playoffs inch closer and closer? Have you solidified your spot or are you on the bubble? If your team needs a boost in the coming weeks to help you reach playoffs, here are some players rolling at the current moment.

  1. Yasmany Tomas (OF/3B) – Diamondbacks

My number one waiver wire add this upcoming week is Arizona’s utility man. Tomas is in the midst of his second MLB season and has been consistent thus far. Most notably, over the past few weeks, he has really stepped up his game where he has accumulated solid fantasy points. He ranks up towards the top in fantasy production over the past two weeks.

Tomas ranks in the top five in fantasy points among all MLB hitters in the past two weeks, ranked only behind Miguel Cabrera, Brian Dozier, and fellow youngster, Max Kepler. The right-hander has averaged between four and five fantasy points per game in this span depending on your scoring settings. He has 21 hits which includes eight long balls. He has also hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games played.

Look for Tomas on the waiver wire as he is still available in over 40 percent of leagues. He has 14 RBI over the past two weeks as well and has been tearing up the fantasy stat sheet. He is coming into his own now at just 25 years of age. He can play third base as well as outfield, which makes him more valuable for your team looking ahead.

2. Brandon Phillips  (2B) – Reds

The Cincinnati Reds second baseman has also been surging. He is not far behind Tomas in points over the past two weeks of play either. He ranks in the top 20 in fantasy points during this time. Phillips has the same amount of hits to his name as Tomas, however not as much power.

Phillips has had at least one RBI in each of his last five games played. That’s eight RBI off of an impressive 12 hits in five games. He has really heated up recently bringing his average up to a respectable .278 for the season so far. Over the past two weeks, he is averaging close to four fantasy per game. Very encouraging from the veteran second baseman.

Being owned in less than 40 percent of ESPN leagues, he is clearly slipping under the radar. He can be yours to grab if you’re having trouble at the second base position currently. He ranks fifth among fantasy second basemen over these past few weeks. He can perhaps provide that much-needed spark for your team.

3. Dan Straily (SP) – Reds

Straily is another Reds player I have on my radar this week. Straily really has pitched well all season long. Straily has thrown seven straight quality starts for Cincinnati. He ranks eighth among starting pitchers in fantasy points over the past couple of weeks and rightfully so, as he has dominated.

On the season, the 27-year-old right-hander has a solid 3.76 overall ERA and a 7-6 record That is impressive playing on a losing Reds team. He too has an encouraging WHIP, which currently stands at 1.11. He is certainly limiting the base runners this season. He is still young and can certainly get better. He will be starting against a weak Milwaukee lineup this week, so look for him to dominate again.

Straily is only owned in 27.6 percent of ESPN leagues. He can be a great addition to your staff. He is reliable in that he does not accumulate many negative starts. Positive points in most of your games played are a great sign. He is ahead of many of the games best in fantasy points recently.
