The Brewers will be without one of their best starting pitchers, Junior Guerra. He was placed on the 15-day DL with an elbow injury.

The Milwaukee Brewers made a lot of moves before the trade deadline to prepare for the future. While this season looks to be a loss, the team was still going to compete for the final two months of the season. However, the Brewers will have to do that without arguably their best starting pitcher, Junior Guerra.

Guerra was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Monday with an elbow injury. No further information has been released about the significance of the injury or how long he will be out. All we know is that Guerra will miss his next two starts.

On the season, Guerra is 7-4 with a 2.93 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. He isn’t a big strikeout pitcher, 90 strikeouts in 107.1 innings. Despite that, he still has the best K/9 rate on the team.

More from Fantasy Baseball

His most recent start was a bit difficult to watch. He went just four innings after allowing four runs on six hits and three walks. Two days later, the Brewers announced that Guerra would not make his next start on Tuesday with an elbow injury.

Because of the success Guerra had in July, fantasy owners rushed to the waiver wire to pick him up. His ESPN ownership percentage currently sits at 61.4 percent. That’s a lot of owners that will be without him for the next few weeks. Here are some names available to pick up in his place.

Dylan Bundy (45.7 percent owned), Joe Musgrove (28.7 percent) and James Paxton (25.5 percent) are three starting pitchers that should be owned in more leagues. They have performed very well over the last couple of weeks and could lead teams to the playoffs and beyond.

I already dropped Guerra from my team, and you should too. With so many unanswered questions surrounding his injury, he isn’t worth keeping on your roster. No one is sure how long he will be out and that kind of uncertainty will not help you. I just listed three pitchers you can easily pick up and there are probably three more that are available.
