Miguel Sano is headed to the disabled list after injuring his hamstring with the Minnesota Twins. What is the fantasy fallout following the slugger’s D.L. stint?

Not much has gone right for the Twins this season, and Miguel Sano‘s injury just seems to further their torment. Fantasy owners and the Twins alike had high hopes for him, and while he has had his low points this season, he was just starting to find his groove.

Sano currently sits with a, .235/11 HR/27 RBI/.799 OPS line, 50 games into the season. Fantasy owners knew the dangers of his swing and miss tendencies, he already has 77 K, but the power and run production is still evident.

Over the last week or so, he became the unstoppable force at the plate that owners salivated over as he posted a, .368/ 4 HR/8 RBI/1.500 OPS line. He was locked in at the plate, but the injury bug got him.

For the Twins, this is a devastating blow for a team that has not been able to get solid pitching nor consistent offensive production. Fantasy owners are now tasked with trying to find some type of replacement for a player that undoubtedly required a premium pick to own.

Looking at potential options in the OF, luckily the position provided a plethora of options. None have the upside nor power that Sano provides, but the wire depth helps. Players like Derek Dietrich, or Jon Jay could provide decent AVG and counting stat outputs. Those looking for power help, could turn to options like, Corey Dickerson or Jorge Soler, as they have been hot of as late at the dish as well.

Looking ahead, hamstring injuries can be tricky to fully recover from, and with Sano’s hulking frame, owners will have to hope that he suffers no setbacks over the next 15 days. The Twins’ season may be lost, but Sano should still have enough time to provide quality production over the rest of the season.

The injury certainly sucks and happened at the worse possible time, but the OF waiver wire at least offers options that can help in some fashion. Owners do not need to panic or feel as though they will need to acquire a power bat just yet, but the next 15 days will go a long way in making sure Sano is ready for the long haul.
