The Giants star outfielder Angel Pagan is the latest to land on the DL. He will be out at least two weeks, maybe longer, with a strained hamstring.

It feels like a long season already with all of the injuries, but this is just the start to Week 8. Many ace pitchers, star hitters and even valuable relief pitchers have been on the DL at some point. The latest victim is San Francisco Giants outfielder Angel Pagan. He will miss more time with a hamstring injury. What is the fallout of the injury?

Pagan has been injury-plagued throughout his career. Last season was the first time since 2012 that he played in over 130 games. He played in 96 and 71 games in 2014 and 2013, respectively. This season was going along the same route as those shortened seasons.

He missed 11 games at the beginning of the month, and will miss at least two more weeks with this injury. In 35 games so far, he is hitting .275 with two home runs, 13 RBI, five steals and a 18:12 K:BB ratio. The good news is that he looked more patient at the plate, 9.0 walk and 13.5 strikeout rates with a 21.6 O-Swing percentage.

Angel Pagan struggled since returning from his previous time missed from a hamstring issue. He was hitting .143 with three steals, four walks and three strikeouts. He should have been placed on the DL the first time the hamstring issues came up, which could have prevented this added absence, but everyone thought he was okay to return.

The Giants recalled Jarrett Parker from Triple-A Sacramento. He is hitting .281 with 13 homers and 29 RBI in 36 games. I wouldn’t add him unless you play in the deepest of leagues or need a two-week fill in. Gregor Blanco will be in line for some more playing time, too.

Next: Joey Gallo Back in the Majors

Angel Pagan was owned in 39.3 percent of ESPN leagues last week. That ownership percentage has dropped 7.9 percent since then. He isn’t a player that’s worth keeping, even if he comes back after missing the minimum time allowed. If you drop him, you should be able to pick him back up if necesary.

Some outfielders worth adding as a replacement are Trayce Thompson, Melvin Upton Jr. and Brandon Guyer.
