The Cincinnati Reds may not have much to look forward to this season, but they do have some fantasy options. Outfielder Adam Duvall is one of them.

The Cincinnati Reds had a rough offseason. Star third baseman Todd Frazier left and signed with the Chicago White Sox and they traded closer Aroldis Chapman to the New York Yankees. The starting rotation is one of the many weaknesses on this team, but there is some hope. Outfielder Adam Duvall is having a great season and is a waiver wire add in deep leagues.

More from Fantasy Baseball

Duvall had a successful career in the San Francisco Giants farm system. He posted a 30-home run season in High-A back in 2012. He hit 27 home runs and a .298 average two years later in Triple-A. He hit another 30 home runs between Triple-A Sacramento  and Triple-A Louisville. He got the call up on August 31 when the MLB rosters expanded.

In 27 games, he hit five home runs, nine RBI and .219. He posted a 26:6 K:BB ratio. It wasn’t the best debut for the 26-year-old. Whether it’s from desperation or skill, the Reds kept him on the roster entering this season.

Luckily, Adam Duvall performing better this time around. In 26 games so far, he has already reached his home run total from last season with 10 RBI and a .259 average. He went three days hitting consecutive home runs with four RBI in the process. While his strikeout to walk ratio is still not in his favor, 30:5, he is doing a better job putting the bat to the ball.

Duvall currently ranks as the No. 69 outfielder on the Player Rater. With five starting otufielders in standard leagues, he’s definitely worth owning now. If he could lower his strikeout rate to under 30 percent, he could be a top-50 outfielder.

Adam Duvall is owned in just 2.2 percent of ESPN leagues, up from 1.3 percent last week. The starting left fielder for any team has some fantasy value in leagues. If you play in a 16-team or NL-only league, Duvall is someone you should add off the waiver wire. He is T-2 on the Reds in home runs, sixth in RBI and seventh in runs scored.
