Injuries yet again plague the San Francisco Giants promising second basemen Joe Panik. However, it doesn’t look to be that serious.

Joe Panik, the Giants young second basemen, my find himself on the disabled list again. He was having himself another nice start to the season where he posted a .280 batting average to go along with three home runs and 12 RBI. Panik has also scored 17 runs so far this season, the category in which he flourishes most.

Giants fans are hoping does not become a recurring thing for the 25-year-old. Last year he was sidelined due to a back injury. Now it is his groin giving him problems. The Giants are hoping this injury will not keep him out for too long.

Panik has been sidelined now since April 30. Making the move to the DL seems like the most logical thing for the Giants to do. In the mean time, second base will be manned by Kelby Tomlinson.

Since taking over, Tomlinson has accumulated an impressive seven hits and scoring three runs, while also driving in a run. Not to mention three steals. Tomlinson has certainly filled in nicely in Panik’s absence, but the Giants cannot wait to have their star second baseman back on the field.

Even more bad news for the Giants is that outfielder Angel Pagan too may be sidelined for some time. The MRI came back on his left hamstring which revealed a Grade 1 sprain. For now, the Giants appear to be electing to keep him off the disabled list, however, he will still miss the next three to five games.

Before that, he was off to a nice start to his 2016 campaign, posting a .315 batting average to go along with two home runs and 13 RBI. Both will surely be missed by San Francisco and their respective fantasy owners.

They play in a division where every win counts in the National League West. In arguably one of the toughest, if not the toughest division the MLB has to offer, the Giants currently stand in a tie for first place in the division at 15-14, even with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

If you are a fantasy owner of Pagan or Panik, don’t be quick to pull the trigger on either. Neither injury appears to be too significant at the moment, but are certainly worth monitoring. Pagan is an average outfielder who will not put up star like numbers, especially amongst the rest of the outfielders.

While healthy, Joe Panik put up nice stats the past two seasons. There are few second basemen that truly flourish at the fantasy level. Panik is one of them who can give you solid numbers with his ability to make contact with the baseball and score runs. Panik is a must own in all fantasy settings.
