Brandon Drury has been on fire for the Arizona Diamondbacks over the last two weeks, yet is still largely left on the waiver wire. Should fantasy owners now make him a must add of the wire?

Brandon Drury has quietly been on quite the tear for the D’Backs this season at the plate. With a favorable home ballpark and currently hitting in a solid offensive lineup, all signs point to Drury being able to build on his fantasy value.

His current season lines comes in at, .294 AVG/4 HR/10 RBI/.898 OPS. He has been steady at the plate, and his swing looks in rhythm. Most of that production has especially come during the last two weeks, where he has batted .349 and posted a 1.131 OPS.

He should be able to supply moderate power with Arizona, as he had 19 HR and 23 HR campaigns in the minors. He is also a career .285 hitter in the minors, so he brings a pretty steady approach at the plate. He will not supply any speed, but he currently has 8 R this season, so he is not completely inept on the base paths.

The D’Backs have usually slotted him in the two hole of the lineup, right in front of Paul Goldschmidt, which can only have a positive impact on the type of pitches he sees at the dish. I would like to see more in the middle of the order, helping his counting stats further, but batting atop the order allows him ample opportunities at supplying stats that will suffice.

Fantasy owners looking for AVG help and a guy that could flirt with 15 HR this season, should have Drury high upon the waiver wire priority list. He has been used in more of a utility role the last two seasons with the D’Backs, he has played the most at third this season, but has also played nine games in the outfield as well.

The only knock on Drury is the fact that he can be a free swinger at the plate, he has one walk and 15 strikeouts in 71 plate appearances this season. But, the way he has been swinging it lately, it is easy to see why he is in swing mode now. Make the move to add him off the wire as a capable CI or UTIL fill in, with even the possibility that in some leagues, that he still qualifies as a MI based upon his time at 2B last season.
