It is obvious which teams are buying and which are selling. Teams that are on the brink of winning their respective division or making the playoffs are adding every piece possible to make a difference. Teams that have no chance are selling and racking up the prospects.

Here are the newest big-time trades involving hitters.

Carlos Gomez traded to the New York Mets Houston Astros

Thursday night was pretty crazy. Gomez was all but traded to the Mets. Wilmer Flores, the one he would have been traded for, was in tears during the game. However, it was all for nothing. The trade was called off and Gomez is now going south.

Gomez was part of the trade along with Mike Fiers. He will be starting center fielder, moving Jake Marisnick out of a starting job.

Those owners that play in AL-only leagues just got another superstar player on their waiver wire. Hopefully Gomez starts to pick up the pace. He isn’t hitting or running the same compared to 2014. He has just seven stolen bases, compared to 34 last year and 40 the year before.

Gerardo Parra to the Baltimore Orioles

This trade was a surprise to me. With Gomez out of the picture, Parra had a guaranteed starting job. However, the Milwaukee Brewers are just trading everyone. Parra has played very well this season. Since June 1, he has seven home runs, 17 RBI, 28:14 K:BB ratio and a .365 batting average.

Miller Park is a very hitter-friendly park, which helped Parra’s fantasy value. Though, Oriole Park is not too far behind. The park ranks No. 2 among home runs per game, ironically Miller Park is No. 1.

I’m not sure how the Orioles’ lineup will be structured, but hitting with Adam Jones, Manny Machado and Chris Davis can only help his fantasy value.

Ben Revere to the Toronto Blue Jays

Revere joining the Blue Jays hurts his new teammates more than it helps him. Revere is capable of playing all three outfield positions. While Jose Bautista‘s spot in right field is safe, this greatly affects Kevin Pillar and Chris Colabello. He will likely split time in both left and center field.

Revere brings some much-needed speed to the Blue Jays lineup. Toronto is tied for 17th among team stolen bases in July and 14th for the season.

With Bautista, Josh Donaldson and the recent addition of Troy Tulowitzki, Revere will have plenty of opportunities to steal some bases and score even more runs. This is an underrated move compared to the others, but came have just as big of an impact.

Yoenis Cespedes to the New York Mets

This trade is the most recent among big-name hitters. After missing out on Gomez, the Mets needed some hitting him. The Detroit Tigers are in sell mode and the Mets took advantage.

Cespedes is having a quietly good season. He has 18 home runs, 61 RBI and a .293 batting average.

Unfortunately, the trade is bad timing for the Mets. They recently called up top prospect Michael Conforto as the left fielder. Now, Cespedes will likely take his spot and Conforto goes back to the minors. The only way Conforto stays up on the main roster is if they bench Curtis Granderson (which they should).

Citi Field is a hitter-friendly park, No. 4 in home runs per game. Comerica Park ranks No. 23. While the lineup isn’t close to what the Tigers had, Cespedes’ fantasy value did increase.

The trade deadline has now passed. Let us digest everything that has happened. Scout your waiver wire and see the new players added to your league. It is a fun time to be a fantasy baseball owner.
