Injuries are never fun, especially when it happens to a player on your team. Luckily, there are updates being released to help ease the pain of your superstar player missing time. Here are the weekend updates for some top hitters as we head into Week 10.

Ryan Braun

Braun has been dealing with a right thumb issue for almost a year. He had a cryotherapy procedure in October and was swinging a bat a week later. He will be missing time due to another procedure. This will help prevent further injury later on this season. Luckily, Braun should only be out for a couple of weeks, not months. Still, losing Braun’s bat at this point in the season can hurt.

Yasiel Puig

It’s been over a month since Puig wore a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform. He hasn’t played since April 24 as he’s been recovering from a hamstring injury. He was set to return after a week, but suffered a setback. Puig has been playing at High-A Rancho Cucamongo. He said that he still doesn’t feel 100 percent, but is anxious to be back with the team. There is still no timetable for Puig’s return. He could be back tomorrow or it could be another week.

Hunter Pence:

Pence missed the first six weeks of the season with a forearm injury. After playing 162 games in back-to-back seasons, it was bound to happen. He then tried to play through wrist tendinitis, but that made it worse. He missed his second straight game on Friday. There is no other news about missing an extended period of time, so it could be day-to-day. Though, whenever he returns, he will get regular at bats.

Jacoby Ellsbury

More from Fantasy Baseball

Ellsbury left the game on May 19 with a right knee injury and was placed on the 15-day DL after the MRI. Early reports state that he would be out until early June. Well, early June is here and no Ellsbury on the field. New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman said that Ellsbury is on track to return by the end of June. He recently ran sprints, but hasn’t resumed any baseball activities. While he’s been out longer than expected, Ellsbury should be back to normal in the second half.

Josh Hamilton

The return to the Texas Rangers was a blessing for Hamilton. In his second start, he hit two solo home runs. It went downhill from there. After hitting a walk-off double, he grabbed his hamstring and is expected to miss four weeks. He should be back before the All-Star break. If you need to, keep Hamilton. If not, drop him and look for another outfield or utility option. We’ll see how he progresses throughout the month.
