Starting pitching is, in my opinion, the best position to scout on the waiver wire. There is always a pitcher that no one knows about lighting up the stat sheets. That is, until someone writes about him and everyone in your league is putting a claim to pick him up. Hopefully, you read this before any of your league-mates do. Pick up Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Mike Bolsinger.

Bolsinger made one start earlier in the season, going 5.2 innings and allowed one run on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts. He was then called up on May 12 to officially join the rotation. Since the call up, he is 3-0 with a 0.46 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 17 strikeouts. His most recent start was against the San Diego Padres. He went eight scoreless and struck out eight. He allowed a leadoff hit to Yangervis Solarte and did not allow another baserunner for the rest of the game.

Bolsinger’s season stats are 3-0, 0.71 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and a 22:6 K:BB ratio. It is near impossible to find a pitcher on the waiver wire with those stats, especially one that is pitching every five days.

Bolsinger’s next start is on May 29 against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals have one of the better offenses in the league, hitting .257/.321/.396, 12th/ninth/16th respectively, in the month of May. This could be Bolsinger’s biggest test this season. If he passes, then he belongs on someone’s roster in every league.

His fantasy ownership has already skyrocketed. It was at 14.8 percent last week and now sits at 47.0 percent (+32.2). In a year where the superstar pitchers are not pitching like such, pick up Bolsinger now before it is too late. He has not allowed a run in his last two outings and has the potetial to strikeout 10 batters per game.

Mike Bolsinger is undoubtedly a must-add in all leagues.
