The Milwaukee Brewers made the decision on Sunday evening to fire manager Ron Roenicke. They thought this move was best for the team because the Brewers have started the season a league-worst 7-18. Roenicke is only the 5th manager in MLB history to be fired 25 games or fewer into a season.

The Brewers were 342-331 under Roenicke’s control, and their best season was Roenicke’s first. In 2011, the Brewers had the best record in team history at 96-66 and claimed the National League Central title. The Brewers have never been the same since that season. They have started off fantastic in 2012, 2013, and 2014, but they just couldn’t seem to get hot at the right time.

Under Roenicke’s management in 2015 the Brewers were ranked 25th in team pitching, and they were ranked 27th offensively. The Brewers have been a fantasy nightmare, but will those fortunes change with someone else at the helm?

My answer: no. I do not think that the Brewers fortunes are going to change anytime soon. The Brewers are going to need to change every single aspect of their team, and that is extremely hard to do, especially if the players do not buy in to the new manager’s system. I have a feeling that a big reason why Roenicke was let go was because he wasn’t liked that well in the club house. Also, Roenicke was dealt some tough characters in Ryan Braun and Carlos Gomez. I think that the main focus of the Brewers needs to be rebuilding because their season is almost completely lost.

Should you consider keeping or picking up any Brewer? Absolutely not. The only players that are going to do anything this season are going to be Braun, Gomez, and Adam Lind. Lind and Braun are leading the team on offense, but they are not worth wasting a roster spot on.
