Kolten Wong 2015 Projections

The second base position is one with a lot of question marks heading into the 2015 season. There is a veteran player sitting atop the rankings while there are younger players waiting to take that top spot. While you should be able to draft a viable second baseman late, how long do you wait? I believe Kolten Wong of the St. Louis Cardinals is the perfect value and should outplay his projections this year.

The 2014 season wasn’t the season Wong expected it to be. He started the season in the majors, but spent 18 games in Triple-A with the Memphis Redbirds. He was often sat against left-handed pitchers because there was a clear lack of confidence from management.
He finished the season with 12 home runs, 42 RBI, 20 stolen bases and a .249 average. He hit 11 of his 12 home runs after returning from a shoulder injury in July, and continued with the power surge in the postseason.
Wong is an all-around fantasy option heading into the 2015 season. He has power, speed, can get on base and drive in some runs. He has the potential to be a 20-20 hitter, especially in the lineup he hits in. Wong will also get more playing time now that he doesn’t have to share second base with anyone.

Wong is still looking to find himself and what kind of batter he will be. The home runs and batting average will work themselves out. It what will be his second full season, Wong is a sleeper with a lot of upside. He is clearly worth starting on your fantasy team.
Luckily, you won’t have to waste a high-round pick on him. With the talent at the position, Wong falls outside the top 12 with the potential of finishing as a top-10 second baseman and top-40 overall.
Projections: 12 HR, 53 RBI, 22 SB, .261 average. Draft in Round 11.
