Fantasy Baseball Stats: Daily All-Stars from September 12

Another day where the pitchers dominated the fantasy baseball stats. Like yesterday, the hurlers claimed three of the four spots on the countdown.

Unlike yesterday, they all took a backseat to Friday’s best hitter.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats MVP

Matt Holliday — St. Louis Cardinals

Getting a steal from Holliday is not that different than getting a homer from someone like Ben Revere or Leonys Martin. It’s a complete bonus to your fantasy baseball stats. Those are always nice, especially in head-to-head weekly match-ups.

This hasn’t been a great year for Holliday. He’s certainly capable of much better stats. But he’s also capable of dominating a game with his bat, like he did on Friday night. Don’t be surprised if he does it another time or two in the final two-plus weeks.

P.S. Shout out goes to Brandon Crawford and A.J. Pollock. They both had great games, but don’t have a lot of fantasy relevance.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats Honorable Mentions

1. Bud Norris — Houston Astros

[table id=1238 /]

Like Crawford and Pollock, Norris doesn’t have a great deal of fantasy relevance, certainly not compared to the next two guys. But it’s a little different with pitchers, as a good game from them could be what a fantasy owner needs to see.

I don’t necessarily know that that’s a good idea with Norris. He’s a little too inconsistent for my liking. But he was completely locked in in the second game of the Orioles-Yankees double header, dominating the Yanks and turning in the best pitching performance of the day.

2. Madison Bumgarner — San Francisco Giants

[table id=1237 /]

Yup, Norris was one strikeout better than Bumgarner, though Bumgarner helped people everywhere. This was another brilliant outing from Bumgarner, who’s been red hot for nearly two months now, even keeping the Tigers down in his previous start, despite not striking anyone out and allowing 10 hits.

There’s not much to add about Bumgarner. He’s one of the best in the game and is only getting better. Playing on a team that generally contends and in a great pitcher’s park, he should be one of the first pitchers off of the board in your draft next year.

3. Adam Wainwright — St. Louis Cardinals

[table id=1239 /]

Another guy that should be one of the first pitchers to go next year. Wainwright’s found his swagger in his last two starts after a bit of a down patch, at least for his standards.

He was obviously locked in on Friday and has been all September, walking only two guys in three starts. He closed his outing against the Rockies yesterday by retiring his final 16 hitters. That’s a nice way to leave some positive vibes for your next start.
