While a hitter did find his way into the recap, the pitchers were dominant on Thursday, easily taking three of the top four spots on the fantasy baseball stats recap, which is sponsored today by the letter K.

Which hurler claimed the top spot?

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats MVP

Francisco Liriano — Pittsburgh Pirates

Man, the Phillies bats had no hope on Thursday, as Liriano was dominant in pretty much every way. At 106 pitches, I wish he would have pitched the ninth inning, but then fantasy owners of Mark Melancon would have lost a save, so it’s not all bad. Also, 106 is a decent amount. It’s not like he was yanked after 85 pitches.

There’s a decent chance that Liriano is available in your league. This start was fantastic, but his last four outings have all been great. If you can pounce, this might be the time to jump on the train.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats Honorable Mentions

1. Chris Sale — Chicago White Sox

[table id=1231 /]

I don’t think this guy’s available in any fantasy leagues. He was not the guy that the sliding A’s needed to see on Thursday afternoon, but Oakland got Sale and got him at his best.

Given the fact that he plays on a non-contender and that he missed time, Sale will probably lose out on the AL Cy Young Award to Felix Hernandez. But I’d be just fine going with Sale as my guy in a must win game.

2. T.J. House — Cleveland Indians

[table id=1232 /]

Breaking my own rule about including guys with virtually no fantasy relevance. So, why am I including House but snubbing Chris Young for the second day in a row? Well, try this on for size.

It’s only three starts, but a 0.86 ERA and 0.76 WHIP is red hot. The guy only had a few starts left, so his hot streak doesn’t need to go much longer. His fantasy baseball stats weren’t relevant on Thursday, but maybe they should be by the next time that House takes the hill.

3. Leonys Martin — Texas Rangers

[table id=1233 /]

A few guys could have earned this last spot, including the aforementioned Young. But it’s always nice to see a guy owned in most fantasy leagues have a day where he does everything. When Martin hits a homer, it’s a big plus for fantasy owners.

Martin is having a great month and an overall fine year. This depends a lot on where he’ll hit, but Martin could be a nice pick next year in a healthy Rangers lineup.
