Fantasy Baseball Stats: Daily All-Stars from September 5

The top fantasy baseball stats on Friday were plenty good, they just didn’t all come from the most expected sources.

The guy we start with best illustrates that point, as he contributed in some pretty uncommon areas.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats MVP

Ben Revere — Philadelphia Phillies

I don’t know about you, but I’m always a fan of pleasant surprises. Revere is a good player, owned in pretty much every fantasy league, but you don’t expect the long ball. He’s now passed Duane Kuiper on the all-time home run list.

Revere’s having a great season as far as fantasy baseball stats go. He’ll get plenty more chances to steal bases and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him get to 50 by season’s end. Any time you can add that to your team, a good chunk of your need at that stat is filled.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats Honorable Mentions

1. Kendrys Morales — Seattle Mariners

It didn’t help many fantasy players, but it did help enough to be relevant. It is nice to see him hit the ball like this, as Morales has had his struggles with power this year.

Morales hasn’t been very good for the Mariners at the plate since signing there. Maybe this will spark his pop for the rest of the year. He’s getting at-bats, so a few more games like this may make him worth the gamble.

2. Travis d’Arnaud — New York Mets

Similar to Morales, not many fantasy players were helped by this game, but enough were to be considered.

d’Arnaud now rides a small but noticeable four-game hitting streak. In three of those games, he’s recorded multiple hits. He’s had a very solid month and could be worth strong consideration at the catcher position.

3. James Shields — Kansas City Royals

Apologies to Tyler Matzek. He did have a great game and is red hot but unlike Morales and d’Arnaud, isn’t owned in enough leagues to get strong consideration on the daily fantasy baseball stats countdown.

Not much to add with Big Game James. He’s had two great starts in September and is in line to get Miguel Cabrera and the Tigers next time out.
