Yesterday’s fantasy baseball stats belonged to the stars. Today’s belonged to the guys at the next level, or the sleepers that you should look to consider for the rest of the year.

We start with a guy that started the day on the bench — and I think Matt Williams was happy he had this man ready to come in when he did.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats MVP

Adam LaRoche — Washington Nationals

Not bad fantasy baseball stats for a game that he didn’t even start. LaRoche came through in a huge way for the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon, winning one of the best games of the year in the process.

LaRoche highlights the depth of the first base position better than just about anyone. He’s nowhere near the best fantasy first baseman, but he could very well top 25 homers and 90 RBI. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats Honorable Mentions

1. Chris Carter — Houston Astr0s

[table id=1173 /]

Last week, Matt Schinlder pointed out that Carter only needs seven bombs to get 40. After Wednesday’s performance, he only needs five. If he’s healthy, he gets it.

The Angels haven’t exactly followed up their sweep of the A’s all that well, losing two to the Astros. Houston is dominating the fantasy baseball stats, as well, as Jose Altuve was the top guy yesterday, and Carter is in the No. 2 position today. There’s some definite value on this team next year, and even for the remainder of 2014.

2. Miguel Gonzalez — Baltimore Orioles

[table id=1171 /]

Felix Hernandez and Jon Lester opposed each other and both threw great, but Gonzalez was the top pitcher today. He completely dominated the Reds, throwing the first complete game shutout of his career.

Gonzalez has been a quality start machine for the Orioles and fantasy owners since July. Unfortunately, he’s not owned in many leagues. If you need some pitching help for the final few weeks, give this guy a good look.

3. Danny Salazar — Cleveland Indians

[table id=1172 /]

Another very nice start for the former sleeper, turned bust, turned sleeper again. Fantasy baseball is funny sometimes. Like Gonzalez, Salazar threw the first shutout of his career, shutting down Miguel Cabrera and the rest of the Tigers.

Also like Gonzalez, Salazar is available in plenty of leagues and is worth a look for anyone that needs a late-season pitching kick.
