With warm weather and tired pitchers, August generally belongs to the hitters. That showed on Tuesday’s fantasy baseball stats, with the hitters take three of the four spots on today’s recap.

Our top guy has had a topsy-turvy season at the plate but if Tuesday is an indicator, he may be in for a strong finish.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats MVP

Josh Donaldson — Oakland Athletics

The A’s offense had been scuffling for a while, but they broke out of that in a big way on Tuesday, with Donaldson leading the charge. As good as he’s been this year, this could well have been his best game at the plate.

It’s hard to get a great read on what to expect from Donaldson for the rest of the way. He was great for the first two months and really struggled in the second two. Maybe somewhere in the middle. I certainly wouldn’t look to trade him from your fantasy teams unless someone like Miguel Cabrera is coming your way.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats Honorable Mentions

1. Chris Carter — Houston Astros

[table id=1105 /]

Baseball’s hottest hitter strikes again. This guy has been a pitcher’s worst nightmare for a long time now. The power has always been there, but the rest of the game has been very good for a long time.

We’ll have a more comprehensive piece on Carter coming later in the day. For now, just sit back and enjoy the hot streak — assuming, of course, that he’s on your fantasy team.

2. Chris Sale — Chicago White Sox

[table id=1107 /]

The “Kill the Win” movement gets some more leverage. Still, as good as Odrisamer Despaigne and Kyle Hendricks were in winning efforts, Sale easily gets the spot here, even if Jake Petricka couldn’t hold the win.

Given his age and how many ways he can beat you, Sale should enter 2015 as a Top-5 pitcher. He’s been nothing short of phenomenal all year, even with the time he missed.

3. Oswaldo Arcia — Minnesota Twins

[table id=1106 /]

The rest of the Twins didn’t cooperate like the Astros did for Carter, but Arcia was pretty great in his own right on Tuesday.

Even with a few missed games due to injury, Arcia has had a great month of August. I am not sure what value he has for the rest of the year, but he’s got big time sleeper potential in the near future.
