Even with some great pitching performances (including another game from the game’s best pitcher, Clayton Kershaw), the day in fantasy baseball stats belonged to the hitters, as they take all four spots on the recap.

We start with one of this season’s breakout players.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats MVP

Devin Mesoraco — Cincinnati Reds

Thank you, Mr. Mesoraco. When you have good day, my personal fantasy baseball stats look good — very good.

Mesoraco has had a fantasy breakout season in 2014. With Sunday’s game, he’s already at 20 homers and isn’t that far off of a 30 HR pace. If he keeps going at this rate (or even comes close), the Reds backstop could enter 2015 as one of the top fantasy catchers.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats Honorable Mentions

1. Chase Utley — Philadelphia Phillies

[table id=1094 /]

You have to give it to Chase Utley. For most of his career, he was a catalyst on one of the best teams in the league. He’s been quite injury prone for the last few years and this year, his team is going nowhere. Still, Utley’s found a way to stay healthy. For his fantasy owners, his fantasy baseball stats have been healthy, too.

On Sunday, he finished a double short of the cycle and was all over the place for his team. With his injuries, you never know how he’ll be used down the stretch, but Utley is on pace to top 80 runs and steals, which is not half bad.

2. Jacoby Ellsbury — New York Yankees

Definitely the kind of day that you hope to get a lot of from Ellsbury. Even if he doesn’t dominate any one stat, he contributes in all of them.

It doesn’t feel like Jacoby is having that great a season. But with a strong power surge to finish the year, he has an outside chance at hitting 20 homers. Since he’s already at 30 steals, that’s another solid season.

3. Nori Aoki — Kansas City Royals

[table id=1096 /]

To be fair, Aoki wasn’t the only guy with three steals today. Heck, he wasn’t even the only Royal to swipe three bases, as both Aoki and Jarrod Dyson robbed the Giants blind all day. But the rest of Aoki’s fantasy baseball stats were top notch, even without a homer.

Special mention does go to both Johnny Cueto and Alex Wood, who both pitched very well. Unfortunately, the hitters were just a little too good today.
