Thursday belonged to the stars, at least as far as the day’s top fantasy baseball stats were concerned. We’ll see all four of these players next Tuesday in Minnesota.

Three of the four guys are pitchers, but we start with a pitcher that some of you might have heard of.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats MVP

Mike Trout — Los Angeles Angels

It’s a good thing Trout didn’t steal any bases. Otherwise, it just wouldn’t be fair.

What’s amazing is that these games don’t even look that extraordinary for Trout. He seems perfectly capable of doing this every time he takes the field. As baseball fans, we are very lucky. Players like this don’t come around often and when they do, they aren’t this good this fast.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Stats Honorable Mentions

1. Clayton Kershaw — Los Angeles Dodgers

Ordering these three All-Stars was not easy, but while the other pitchers were better than Kershaw in specific stats, neither of them had his overall day. Chase Headley did break his scoreless innings streak, but we might be seeing a few more of those throughout his career.

If you have Kershaw and your pitching is struggling, I don’t know what to tell you. The guy is an absolute machine.

2. Scott Kazmir — Oakland Athletics

[table id=953 /]

You could make a case for a few guys , but don’t be surprised if Kazmir starts the All-Star game. He’s just been that good all year.

He was completely locked in on Thursday afternoon. The Giants didn’t get many chances but when they did, Kazmir knuckled down and got the outs. There have been plenty days this season where Kazmir’s outing would have earned him the top spot. The game’s best hitter and pitcher were just too strong for that.

3. Jon Lester — Boston Red Sox

[table id=950 /]

The win, plus the lower daily ERA and WHIP put Kazmir on top of Lester today, but it’s not at all a knock on what Lester did. He was completely dominant against the White Sox.

Actually, with the exception of one clunker against the Tigers, Lester has been on a tear since the beginning of June. His last six outings have all been quality starts, with room to spare in both innings pitched and earned runs in each outing.
