Sleeper Pitchers: Two to Choose From

It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future.

One thing that is difficult to do is to spot pitchers who are poised to have a breakout season. A couple years ago my breakout pick was Brett Anderson, who subsequently went on to be nothing but big giant injury, offering zero fantasy value. As far as fortune telling goes, I’m giving that one a D+.

So I’m calling for a RETCON. Also, Spider-man’s marriage to Mary Jane was never erased and Marvel didn’t make Cyclops unrecognizable as a character.

In addition to comics references, I went back and tweaked my formula I used to spot sleeper pitchers who may be due for a breakout. (I outlined the process to spot a sleeper step-by-step.) This was more helpful!

Through the power of math the spreadsheet spit out 12 pitchers who were flying under the radar but had a shot to take a major step forward in 2014. (I wrote about 7 of those pitching sleepers here.)

But I’m stuck and I need your help, Dear Crackerjack Readers!

Two of the sleeper pitchers – Sonny Gray and Danny Salazar – are neck and neck in my personal ratings. It’s a coin toss. I could go either way.

So I’m hoping to invoke the power of the crowd; the wisdom of the internet. There is strength in numbers, so I’m curious as to which of the following pitchers you feel has the most breakout potential.
